The entryway of diversity, innovation, and culture is what makes the fabric of America what it is. Unfortunately, for the Trump Administration, the desire is to narrow the margin. The desire is to cut in half the number of legal immigrants that enter the country. Yes, you read correctly. LEGAL IMMIGRATION. GOP Senators Tom Cotton (AR) and David Perdue (GA) drafted the RAISE ACT, a bill that would shift the immigration system to a merit-based approach which allow foreigners with extraordinary ability in a particular field, holding advanced degrees, and outstanding ability. The RAISE ACT was even praised by the President in March. It limits the ability for that U.S. family member seeking to get their foreign family member with less than extraordinary credentials. If the fabric of our diverse nation is slashed in half, will it really “Make America Great Again”?
